If you sign in with email or an OAuth provider, we collect the email address (and related identity details) that provider shares with us.

If you choose Continue as Guest, we create an anonymous account in our database (Neon, via Better Auth). Bookmarks, reactions, notes, follows, and preferences are stored server-side under that anonymous user id until you upgrade or link a real sign-in.

If you're fully signed out (no session), follows, notes, and swipe preferences may remain only in your browser's local storage under ds:* keys. When you sign in, we may sync those values to your account.

For any signed-in session — including anonymous guest accounts — the source of truth for reactions, notes, bookmarks, follows, and preferences is our database so your personal feed and Constellation can sync across devices. The browser may also keep a short-lived local cache of some of that data.

We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in (including anonymous guest sessions) and to remember signed-out follows, notes, and preferences under ds:* keys until you sign in. For Continue as Guest, bookmarks and other personalization are stored in our database as the source of truth (the browser may hold a local cache as well).

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites on the Internet.
